f(x) = −3 cos(4x + π) + 6

 

Rewrite as

 

f(x)  = -3 cos4(x + pi/4) + 6

 

The amplitude is  l -3 l   = 3

 

The period - call it, m -  is found by solving this: 

 

4m = 2pi     divide both sides by 4   m = pi/2

 

The phase shift is pi/4 units to the left
