  1. A wooden plank is leaning against a wall. The bottom of the plank is 3 feet from the wall. Answer each of the following questions, and show all of your work. 
  2. a) Find AC, the approximate length of the plank. Round to the nearest tenth of a foot.

  3. b) Find BC, the height off the ground where board touches the wall. Round to the nearest foot.

So we have.....

(1)   sin 49 = 3 / P   where P is the plank length  = AC

Rearrange

P = 3 / sin 49 = about 3.975 ft  = about 4 ft. rounded to the nearest tenth

 

(2) tan 49 = 3 / BC     rearrange

BC = 3 / tan 49  = about 2.608 ft = 3 ft rounded to the nearst foot

There is not enough info here to solve this....we would also have to know one of the other angles other than the right angle.....

C=49 degrees and line BA= 3ft. Line BA is on the ground, BC is the wall, and CA is the plank. I have had this question before but I do not remember the answer I am sorry mister or miss.
