tan(x) = 1/ tan(x)

 

Multiply both sides by tan(x):  tan²(x) = 1

 

Take square root of both sides:  tan(x) = 1   and  tan(x) = -1

 

Take arctan of both sides:     x = tan^-1(1)   and   x = tan^-1(-1)  

 

so that:   x = 45°   and   x = -45°
