Hi melody. Calculate the following, giving your answer in standard form. 1.5*10^-10/3*10^-7.
Not got it? The answer is 5/10^3
Would you like me to give you the correct answer ?
Just smile and say please. ;)

.
Well since you asked so nicely :)))
(1.5*10^-10 ) / (3*10^-7)
1.5/3=0.5 and \(10^{-10}/10^{-7} = 10^{-10-\; -7}=10^{-3}\)
so
\(\frac{1.5*10^{-10}}{3*10^{-7}}\\~\\=0.5*10^{-3}\\~\\=5*10^{-1}*10^{-3}\\~\\=5*10^{-4} \)
I have never heard the term "standard form division" before.
Standard for is just scientific notation. The English call it standard form and everyone else calls it scientific notation.
I suppose you are refering to
\(5*10^{-4}=\frac{5}{10^4}\)
Am I right in thinking that you are from the UK ?
