Grandma and Grandpa are having the family over for Thanksgiving dinner. They need to know how many

chairs to set out.  Grandma and Grandpa have six children.  Each of those six children grew up, got married, and have four children of their own.  The four children grew up, got married, and have two children of their own. Everyone is coming for dinner! How many people will be present?

Well......we have 2 to start with

Then we add 12 with their 6 children and their spouses

Then......each of the 6 couples has 4 children.....so that adds 24 to the mix

Then....each of the 24 adds a spouse......so that's 24 more

And each of these 24 couples has 2 children. so that adds 48 more

So...the total number of people will be  2 + 12 + 24 + 24 + 48  =  110
