Two triangles are similar. The perimeter and area of the smaller triangle are $2$. The perimeter of the larger triangle is $3$. What is the area of the larger triangle?

At first I got 3 for the area, but it's wrong. What's the correct way to solve this problem?

Thanks!

If the perimeter of  the larger  triangle is  3   and  the  perimeter of  the  smaller  triangle  is 2, the  scale factor  is  (3/2)

And  the area of the  larger triangle      =

Area of  smaller  triangle  *  (scale factor)^2   =

2  *  ( 3/2)^2   =

2 *    9/4   =

18 /4   =

9/2  = 4.5
