use the quadratic formula to find the solution of the following quadratic equation to correct to two decimal places.

1)3x^2-4x-2=0

2) 2x^2+9x+1=0

3)5x^2+2x-4=0

1)  \(3x^2-4x-2=0\)

     a           b         c

\(x = {-b \pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac} \over 2a}\)

\(x = {4 \pm \sqrt{16+24} \over 6}\)

\({\color{blue}x=\frac{4\pm\sqrt{40}}{6}}\)

x1 = 1.72    x2 = -0.39    laugh  !

2) \(2x^2+9x+1=0\)

    a           b         c

\(x = {-b \pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac} \over 2a}\)

\(x = {-9 \pm \sqrt{81-8} \over 4}\)

\({\color{blue}x = {-9 \pm \sqrt{73} \over 4}}\)

x1 = -0.11      x2 = -4.39      laugh  !

3) \(5x^2+2x-4=0\)

    a           b         c

\(x = {-b \pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac} \over 2a}\)

\(x = {-2 \pm \sqrt{4+80} \over 10}\)

\({\color{blue}x=\frac{-2\pm\sqrt{84}}{10}}\)

x1 = 0.72       x2 = -1.12   laugh  !
