If you want to estimate what your answer should be, try these ideas:

Round 361 to 300 and 106 to 100; when you multiply 300 x 100, your answer is 30,000 (with the number of zeroes in the answer the same as the total number of zeroes in the problem).

If you round 361 to 400 and 106 to 100, the answer is approximately 40,000.

So, the answer must be between 30,000 and 40,000.

If you round 361 to 360 and 106 to 100, your answer should be close to (but larger than) 36,000.

Also, since the last two digits in the problem are 1 and 6, your answer must end in 6.

Mental extimates can find errors in entering number, such as not entering a digit.
