What do u do in the quadratic formula for x^2+11x-9c=-12

Without knowing the value of c the most general approach is to use the quadratic formula.

 

First rewrite as   x2 + 11x + 12-9c = 0 and then solve as:

 

x =  ( -11 ± √[121 - 4(12-9c)] )/2  or x = ( -11 ± √[73 + 36c] )/2

 

Once you have a value for c you can plug it in the expression above to get numerical values for x.  Note that if c is a number less than -73/36 the resulting values of x will be complex.
