If you have 13 divided by 4 the answer is 3 remainder 1  This is normally written as     $$3\frac{1}{4}$$

BECAUSE

If you have 13 cakes and split them between 4 people

they each get 3 cakes but there is 1 left over

If that one is cut into quarters then they also get 1/4 of a cake each.

If you have a remainder, then you have a remainder.

So, if the remainder is 7 and the answer is 54, write the answer as:

54 R7
