Hmm, what is 2*8/(45+17)*4?

Let's go with PEMDAS, and this says we should do the things inside the parentheses first.

So, we do (45 + 17) = 62

 

And we get:

2*8 / 62 * 4

 

Now, theres a lot of multiplication and division first. Just because M comes before D in PEMDAS doesn't mean we should do only the multiplication first, then the division! In situations like these, where we just have some multiplication and division and/or addition and subtraction, we go left to right.

 

2 times 8 is 16, so it's 16 / 62 * 4

16/62 * 4 is 64/62, which simplifies to 32/31.

 

So, 2*8/(45+17)*4 is 32/31. :D
