Since  25 is a power of 5, the key here is to see if we can equate bases.....

25 = 1/5             note that 25  = 52    and  1/5  =  5-1  .....so we can write

(52)x   =  5-1

52x  = 5 -1         since the bases are the same, we can equate exponents

2x  = -1              divide both sides by 2

x  =  -1/2
