is that "/" Division, or a fraction sign?

/   is the division sign which is the same thing as the 'fraction sign'

-27/30  +  5/30  =   (-27 + 5) / 30  =  -22/30  =  -11/15

Oh, okay. A lot of other people tell me that it's not the same. 

Confusion is understandable at first because there are two symbols for division...

the fraction  3/4    actually is the same thing as   3 divided by 4    = .75

the fraction  (9x+3)/(4+x)   is actually the same thing, (just written differently), as  (9x+3)  divided by  (4+x)
