What is 2a+3b-a+3a-a-b?

Yes....in general, "A"  is a diffferent variable than "a."  This creates confusion if the cases are mixed......

if you didn't get the numbers that are equal to the verriables that is as far as you can go so unless you have definate numbers to equal them then you can't get the absolute final answer you just solv it as far as you can go

2a+3b-a+3a-a-b

you just add the like terms  so 2a+3a-a-a and 3b-band you get 3a+2b

when you have a variable by itself like  A  then you count it as though there were a 1 infrount of it so A = 1A

Are there any differences between big and small letters?

For example:

A²+AB-aB+4AB-3A²

i haven't reached that point yet so I'll just agree with what the other person said but I was using capitals to show just to show difference between the words I was saying and the equation

Would this be calculated like this then?

A²+AB-aB+4AB-3A²

(A²+-3A²)+(AB+4AB)-aB

3A⁴+5AB-aB

Thanks a lot. This is a great site; I am trying to improve my math skills and it annoys me to see those people trolling with questions like "2+2=?". But then again, I guess that's where the line between adult and child is drawn.

I totaly agree about the stupid questions though. someone asked what's 2+2 earlyer and I said do you really not know the answer to that?
