what is 40% of 120 and how do you come up with this answer?

40% = .40

"Of" means "multiply"

"Is" means "='     Therefore

.40 x 120 = ????

.40 x 120  = 48

Always remember that percent means "out of 100".  That means the 40%=40/100=.4

so 40% of 120 is equivalent to .4(120)=48

So now here we are to find 40% of 120m so we'll do it like this !

40/100 x 120  ( as of means multiplication sign thats why we've pit there multiplication sign in place of "of" )

=4/1  x 12    ( as we have cut the zeroes of 40,100, and 120 this is the lowest form we've got and we'll multiply it directly)

=48     ANSWER

So 40% of 120 is 48
