denominator is the number below the line in a fraction ! for example : 2/5 is a fraction (proper fraction) and the denominator in this fraction is 5 and the numerator is 2 ! i hope u might have understood now but if any doubt still exist , pls be free to ask !

It's the term at the bottom of a fraction. E.g. = 1/2 ; 1 here is the numerator, it's the term at the top while 2 is the denominator, it's at the bottom.

It is the lower number in a fraction, and represents to "whole" amount of things, while the numerator (the number on top) represents the number of items out of the whole is being used. For example, in 3/5, 5 would be the numerator and number that represents the whole.

 

A pie might be cut into 5 equal pieces, with 3 pieces being eaten. 3 of the total 5 are being eaten.
