The histogram below shows the number of miles per gallon for the cars parked at the local farmer's market.
How many cars get more than 20 miles per gallon?
Jlara.......look at the bar that has the 20 on the bottom left and the 25 on the bottom right.....how high is that bar??? 4!!! This means that 4 cars get between 20-25 miles per gallon ....and this '4" is the "frequency" for the cars in this 20-25 range
Look at the next bar that represents 25-30 miles per gallon...how high is it?? 2!! This means there are 2 cars that get between 25-30 miles per gallon. And this '2" is the frequency for the 25-30 range
So far, 4 + 2 = 6
Now, just look at the remaining bars to the right (there are three of them) and their heights....add these heights to our total of 6 and that will be the answer....
How many cars are in the bar representing 20-25 mpg? <--- the height of the bar
How many cars are in the bar representing 25-30 mpg?
How many cars are in the bar representing 30-35 mpg?
How many cars are in the bar representing 35-40 mpg?
How many cars are in the bar representing 40-45 mpg?
Find those individual answers and add them together ...
jLara, what does frequency mean? It is the height of the columns but what does it mean?
Also what does the first column mean? The one that goes from 5 to 10 and up to 1?
Now, you are asking alot of questions. This is fine but we want you to learn from our answers.
If we just tell you exactly what the answer is then there is no evidence that you have learned anything and we get disheartened.
"Why?" Well because you have to understand these things before you can answer your question.
You cannot answer that frequency means frequent. That has not answered my question.
Please tell me what frequency means in the context of this graph.
Also say in words what that first column means.
If you dont know then think about it very hard. If you still don't know I will give you the answer.
okay and how about if i dont know it because my 8th grade teacher did not show me this
and if i think hard i will get mat and frustrated so no :( sorryy
