15- [1/6]n= [1/6]n-1     add [1/6 ] n , to both sides

16 =  [2/6]n                 2/6 = 1/3

16  = [1/3] n                multiply both sides by 3

48   = n

cool cool cool

n is just a variable they use. You would just solve the equation for n.

I was wondering what number n was though... I know how to solve equations but this one stumps me

15-1/6n=1/6n-1

14/6n=1/6n-1

Cross multiply

84n-14=6n

+14 to both sides

-6n from both sides

78n=14

n=14/78

That is simplified to n=7/39

15-(1/6n)=(1/6n)-1

n=48

{nl} Oh, I hadn't realized that it was 15 - [1/6]n. Sorry.
