what root in networking terms life terms? Im pretty sure its in math terms so yeah the root is usually refered to as a square root or just another number or hidden variable like 7x or 8J x could repersent anything from 1-to infinity depending on what number they defined the variable as

The square root of  16 is 4 because  4*4=16

If you are asked for the square root of 25, you are being asked for the number that when multiplied by itself is 25.  The answer is 5 because 5*5=25

If you are asked for the root of 100 then you are really being asked for the square root.
