What is the area of the region of points satisfying the inequalities x ≤ 0,y ≤ 0,and y ≥ |x+4|-5
How many real solutions are there to the equation √ x+5 = |2x|
1) if you graph the v shape on a graph, V , wiith vertex at (-4, -5) you can then make two triangles using the axis as a border.
the left triangle will have area 25/2
the right triangle witch will be smaller as it is below a rectangle will have area 8
and the rectangle will have area 4
thus the total area is 49/2
2) if you square both sides, then you get x+5 = 4x^2
which becomes polynomial 4x^2 -x -5
factor to (4x-5)(x+1)
x = -1 and x = 5/4
