What is the average of the 5 natural numbers?
\( \large \frac{1+2+3+4+5}{5}\color{blue}=3\)
!
Well that is the average of the FIRST 5 natural numbers.
Thanks, Melody!
The average of 5 consecutive numbers is:
\(\frac{n+(n+1)+(n+2)+(n+3)+(n+4)}{5}=n+2\)
OR
the average of 5 consecutive numbers (if the middle one is n)
\(=\frac{(n-2)+(n-1)+n+(n+1)+(n+2)}{5}\\ =\frac{5n}{5}\\ =n\)
