what is the distance between (-1,-2) and (2,2)

(-1,-2) and (2,2)

1st, subtract the x's and square the result...so we have  (-1-2)^2 = (-3)^2 = 9

Now, do the same for the y's  .....(-2-2)^2  = (-4)^2  = 16

(Note that the order in wich we subtract doesn't matter)

Add the two results   = 25

Take the square root of this  ...√25 = 5  ...and that's the distance
