what is the formula for the surface area of a cylinder missing a circle

The surface area of the "curved" side of the cylinder is given by 2*(pi)*r*h

By "missing a circle," I assume you mean it only has one closed end.

If the cylinder has only one closed end, we must add the area of this = (pi)*(r^2)

And that's it......
