The nth term is given by......

 

[ Phin - (-phin )] / √5        where  Phi =  [1 + √5]/ 2  ....   and phi  is the reciprocal of this

 

BTW....this is known as "Binet's" Formula

 

Surprisingly enough....the irrational number in the denominator might lead you to believe that this "formula" would produce an irrational result....but it doesn't.....!!!!
