In my old school I learned a few rules to simplifing fractions.

Reminder: YOU NEED TO DIVIDE THE NUMERATOR (TOP) AND THE DENOMINATOR (BOTTOM) PARTS OF THE FRACTION BY THE SAME NUMBERS!

If the fraction ends with an even number on both the numerator and denominater, you can keep dividing by two until you can't go anymore. If the fraction on the numerator add up to something you can divide by three, you can divide the fraction by three (this has to work on the denominator too). For fours, it just has to be something divisible by four. If the numerator and denominator both end in a five or zero, you can divide it by five. If you have a six, do the same thing you did as three. Sevens, you have to find that one yourself because I never learned that one. Eights are the same way, you're going to have to find it. Nines are different, the number just has to be able to divide by nine. Finally, tens need to end in a zero to work.
