What is the range of the function y= 4cos x?

The basic cosine function has a range of [ -1, 1 ]......the "4" out in front in this case is known as the "amplitude" and it effectively increases / decreases everything by a factor of 4.

So, the range of 4cos(x)  = [-4, 4 ]   .... !!!
