cos =  x/r....in this quadrant, x is negative  [r is always positive ]

 

The sine function is positive in quadrant ​ I ​

sin = y/r.......x, y and r are all positive in the first quadrant

 

The cotangent function is negative in quadrant ​ II

cot  = x/y......x is negative and y is positive in quadrant 2
