If the equation of a line is solved for y, it is in slope-intercept form:  y  =  mx + b,

where  m  represents the slope and  b  represents the -intercept.

So the equation  y  =  -3/2x + 4  determines a line whose slope is  -3/2  and whose y-intercept is  4.
