This can be factored as (x - 2)(x + 8) = 0

The two possible solutions are x = 2 and x = -8

Hallo Guest!

What is the solution set for x2+6x−16=0?

x2 + 6x − 16 = 0

p = 6

q = -16

x1,2  = - p/2 ±√((p/2)² - q)

x1,2  = - 6/2 ±√((6/2)² + 16)

x1,2  = - 3 ±√(9 + 16)

x1,2  = - 3 ±√25

x1 = 2

x2 = -8
