Use the quad formula  with   a  = 3   b = 4  and c  =  -8

 

So  we have that

 

                -4 ±√ [ 4^2 - (4 * 3 *  -8) ]            -4 ±√[16 + 96]            -4 ± 4√ [ 1 + 6]
