What is |y - 4| when y = -7

The lines on the side -l- means absolute value. And I think absloute value means anything in it is positive. Oh ok it makes the answer positive not the problem.

I thought -11 too, but isn't absolute value make whatever is in it positive? I'm really not sure if it is 3 or -11.

Yeah....I never really get these anyways.......what are the beginning l-like things......if this is (-7)-4 is what it is....then -11 is right
