Whats x minus 2y = 8 for a linear combinations with -x + 3y = 6?

x - 2y = 8 

-x + 3y = 6

adding these equations, we get

y = 14

substitute this value into one of the equations to find x

x - 2(14) = 8

x - 28 = 8       add 28 to both  sides

x = 36

So the solution is  ( 36, 14)
