Which is the factored form of 9x^2 - 36xy + 36y^2?

A: 6(x - y)^2

B: (3x - 6y)(3x + 6y)

C: (3x + 6y)^2

D: (3x - 6y)^2

I think that it is D: (3x - 6y)^2 but I don't know.

Please show work!

Thanks!!

None of the answers are fully factored

"B"   is correct...however......(3x - 6y)(3x - 6y)   can be factored further as

3(x - 2y) * 3 ( x - 2y)  =  9 (x -2y)2

9x^2 -36xy + 36y^2

Take out the greatest common factor

9 (x^2 - 4xy + 4y^2)

Factor the polynomial in theparenthese

9 (x - 2y) (x - 2y)

9 (x - 2y)2
