Why are natural numbers called "natural numbers"?

I suppose because they are the most natural numbers.

Like 

How many cows do you own?   The answer is a natural number.   (unless you have got none)

Counting(natural)  numbers are the obvious base unit of an number system.

Because they are the same as the "counting" numbers, and it is "natural" to use positive integers to count with....
