Why does i^5 not equal 1i^5?

i^1 = i

i^2 = -1

i^3 = -i

i^4 = 1

i^5 = i and then the pattern repeats on and on......etc.

Hmm that's interesting...

i⁵ = (i i i i i) = (i )(i i)(i i) = (i)(-1)(-1) = i

So the correct answer is i, I don't know why " 1i⁵ " gives you 1.
