why is 7/7^(1/3) =7^(2/3) and not 7^(1/2) ?

The rules, when you are dividing numbers with the same base (7), to different exponents, state that you must subtract the exponents.

 

therefore subtracting 1-(1/3), which is (3/3)-(1/3)=2/3.

so 7(1-1/3)=72/3
