the perimiter of a rectangle is 84 cm. The lenght is 6 less than twice the width. find the length and width of the rectangle. i also need an equation or inequality.

#1**+1 **

The perimeter is given by 2W + 2L where W and L are the width and length

And we are told that L = 2W - 6 .... so we have

84 = 2W + 2 ( 2W - 6) simplify

84 = 2w + 4W - 12

84 = 6W - 12 add 12 to both sides

96 = 6W divide both sides by 4

96 / 6 = Width = 16 cm

And the Length is 2(16) - 6 = 32 - 6 = 26 cm
