I'm fine without points, I just was curious why my answer was downvoted. Thank you for explaining.

First convert them to common denominators: 3/4 x 5/5 = 15/20

Then you add the numerators of 15/20 + 7/20 and keep the denominators.

well first you have to make both of the denominators match. 4 x 5 = 20 right? so now you have to multiply the top by 5 too which would equal 15/20. now add 7/20 and 15/20 which equals 22/20, and to simplify would be 1 2/20 which would simplify again to 1/10! this is just how i do it, i hope this helped

How could a minus 1 be your fault Chris?  You do not need to answer it is semi rhetorical :)
