Write a system of equations to describe the situation below, solve using any method, and fill in the blanks.

Students in Mrs. Hampton's third grade class are working on times tables, and they demonstrate mastery by passing tests. Dustin has passed 11 tests so far. His classmate, Josie, has passed 3 tests of them. From now on, Dustin plans to take and pass 1 test per week. Meanwhile, Josie plans to do 3 per week. At some point, Dustin will catch up to Josie. How long will it take? How many tests will each child have passed?

In ___ weeks, the children will each have passed ___ tests.

Every week, Josie will do 2 more tests than Dustin.

He's 8 behind so he'll need 4 weeks.

4*3 + 3 = 15

In 4 weeks, the children will have each passed 15 test.

I hope this helped. :)))
