1)   (√2+3)(√3+1)

2)   (2√5+2)(√5-4)

 

help please im confused

I'll just do the 1st one for you.

1)   (√2+3)(√3+1)

 

$$\\=\sqrt2(\sqrt3+1)+3(\sqrt3+1)\\\\
=\sqrt6+\sqrt2+3\sqrt3+3\\\\$$

 

Umm I am confused too.  I think that there is a mistake in the question.  

 

Lets look at the second one.

 (2√5+2)(√5-4)

 

$$\\=2\sqrt5(\sqrt5-4)+2(\sqrt5-4)\\\\
=2\times5 - 8\sqrt5+2\sqrt5-8\\\\
=10-8 - 8\sqrt5+2\sqrt5\\\\
=2 - 6\sqrt5\\\\$$

 

That is good for the second one.
