x(1/8)=-3/2

x=-(3/2)/(1/8)

multiply by reciprocal

-(3/2)*(8/1)

-24/2

-12

I may have messed up. It is possible that you need to get a common denominator

-(3/2)*(16/2)

-48/2

-24

x (1/8)  = -3/2     multiply both sides by 8

x  = -24/2  = -12
