(x+2)(x^2+3x-5)  distributing the first two terms over the other three, we have

(x)(x^2+3x-5)  + (2)(x^2+3x-5)  =

x^3 + 3x^2 - 5x + 2x^2 + 6x - 10  =

x^3 + 5x^2 + x - 10
