I would have just multiplied both sides by 8 from the very beginning and gotten rid of all the fractions. :)

x+3.2=3.4x-4.08

-3.4x+x=-3.2-4.08

-2.4x=-7.28

x=-7.28/-2.4

x=3.03333333333333

-1/4x=-15/8

x=8/60

x=0.1333333333333333

x + 3/2 = 3/4 (x - 1/2)   →

(1/4)x = -3/8 - 3/2

4x = -30

x = -7.5
