Think of it this way.

1X basically means 1 x X. One times X.

So if 1X= 55, it can also be written as

1 x Χ=55.

So you just substitute the x as 55 and instead of multiplying it by one, you multiply by 22.

22 x 55= 1210

And there you have it!

Hope I helped!

If x = 55, than substitute 55 for x.

22x just equals 22 of x or 22 times x.

22x equals 22(55)

Adding to the mathmatician's answer, like he/she says, that problem actually means 22 times 55. 22 times 55 equals to 1210.

Instead of using x's for multiplication, use *'s, •'s, or ()'s. It is less confusing that way.
