i swapped sides so I had to turn the inequality around.

x-8-2(x-2)>0

x-8-2x+4>0

-x-4>0

-4>x

Be careful to follow the order of operations and operate on the parenthesis first.

A graph will confirm that when x is less than -4, y is positive (i.e. greater than zero).
