K U may need to make a account or stop putting ur name cause im pretty sure ppl dont need to know ur name.
Hayley..... Actually, Melody has encouraged people to sign their names if they are posting as guests ... so no worries!
I get the vertex as 4 , -9
Did you try the graphing function of the calculator so you can look at it?
~jc
Do you mind me asking how you got that answer? just so i know how to do it next time. please and thank you! and i have not graphed it yet :) i always siggn my name at the bottom, and this girl keeps going off on me >:(
-Hayley
y + 9 = (x - 4)^2
You have the x coordinate correct
Put it in this form, Hayley
y = (x - h)^2 + k
So we have....... [subtracting 9 from both sides]
y = (x - 4)^ - 9
In this form.....the vertex can be read thusly, as .... (4 , -9)
In other words......the x coordinate of the vertex is the x value that makes x - 4 = 0 [this is 4[...... and the y coordinate is just the last term and its associated sign.......
