      Distance to make up  =  3 miles     

      Speed differential       =  6 miles per hour     

 

      Distance  =  Rate times Time    —>>     Time  =  Distance / Rate      

 

                      3 mi     

      Time  =  –––––––  =  0.5 hour     

                      6 mi/hr
