You have 5 red shirts, 5 green shirts, 4 pairs of pants, 7 green hats and 9 red hats, all of which are distinct. How many outfits can you make consisting of one shirt, one pair of pants, and one hat without having the same color of shirts and hats?

We can choose any of the 5 red shirts

Any of the 4 pairs of pants

Any of the (7 green  + 8 red) hats  = 15   (we canot choose  the same  color of red as the shirt we chose)

So...the total number of outfits  =   5 * 4 * 15  =  300
