atan is the same as  tan^(-1)  

Excel defaults to radians so that is why i have multiplied the result by 180/pi

Can you work it out now?

I double checked it by finding  tan^(-1) (1/sqrt3)  which I know is 30 degrees.

Maye if you explain where this comes from it might make some sense to us.

If you want help with Latex this is a good site to start on.  What you have written would not be terribly difficult in LaTex but to start,

the fraction 1/2   is just

\frac{1}{2}

\frac means that what follows is to be written as a fraction.   

The numerator goes in the first set of parentheses and the denominator goes in the second set.

Easy peazy.

=\(\frac{1}{2}\)

To be honest, I have played with this and I do not have an answer.

How can we explain why you were wrong when you have not even given us an outline of your working ?

if you want inverse sin on the web2.0 calculator then press   [2nd]    [asin]    then your ratio [ = ]

It is against your (or your parent's) agreement with AoPS to even ask for outside help.

How do you expect to learn Mathematical problem solving skills if you go getting other people to solve your problems for you!
