First eliminate the denominator on the left of the equal sign by multiplying each side by 2. After you do this you will be left with

3(x-5) = -90

now use the distributive property on the left of the equal sign. After you do this you will have:

3x - 15 = -90

now add 15 to both sides of the equal sign. After you do this you will get:

3x = -75

now divide both sides of the equal sign by 3. The result will be:

x = -25
